Hymnbank Mobile

A cut down version of Hymnbank is now available for use on Mac computers; iPhone or Android phones. This will enable users to search for any hymn or song in our current repertoire and find the index number for identification.
To make use of this resource please follow the directions below.
- First download the free database app “Ninox” from your App store to your device. There is no need to login or create an account as the Hymnbank Mobile database will be held locally on your device.
- Next, download the latest version of Hymnbank Mobile from the link below. Save this to your device, noting where you save it. That may be your iCloud drive, your files or a download folder on your device. (Note: Some devices rename the downloaded file with a .zip extension. If this happens you must rename the file to a .ninox extension)
- Open the Ninox app. Select Import archive; then choose “Hymnbank Mobile ####.ninox” file from where you saved the download. Choose Import Database. Click on the icon for Hymnbank Mobile; then click “Hymns And Songs”.
- Tap the top left sidebar icon to reveal the list of hymns and songs available to search and view. The list of columns gives: Song Number; Lyrics; First Line; Author; Media; and a unique ID.
- You can search for a hymn or song by a word or phrase that appears in the song, or select a song from its number if you already know the number.
- To search for a hymn by “number” click on the “Song No.” column Heading to display the filter form. In the box labelled “Filter” type the song number you wish to view. Select Go or Done according to your device. For example, type 746, and song number 746 (from Mission Praise) appears.
- Tap on the song to give full details, including full lyrics to read and check. Some songs have a “Media” link at the bottom of this page. If a link exists you may click the “globe” icon to view a music video of the song.
- Click the breadcrumb arrow > to return to the searched listing, and cancel the entry in the filter box.
- To search for a word or phrase, click on the “Lyrics” column Heading to display the filter form. In the box labelled “Filter” type the exact phrase or words that appear in your chosen song. Leave the “Lyrics” box empty. Select Go or Done according to your device.
- A list of hymns and songs will appear, if available, for your chosen words. A count of the number of songs found will show at the bottom of the Song No. column.
- Tap on the song you wish to see, to read the full lyrics and view any media that might be available.
- Once again click the breadcrumb arrow > to return to the searched listing.
- Remember to cancel any search filter you have made and display the full listing of hymns and songs. When a filter has been applied you will see a “filter” Icon next to the Column Heading.
- Tapping the top left sidebar icon, then the home breadcrumb arrow will take you back to the start.
